Hi – time is ticking – it is time to start thinking about plane tickets.

Considering flying to our wedding? Here are some tips!

1 – Using a travel agent or doing your own online search both work well. Price around & find options that suit you best.

2 – Purchase your tickets with a credit card that includes travel insurance or purchase additional insurance. It generally doesn’t cost that much & can save you loads of headaches when traveling internationally.

3 – There are NO direct flights between Vienna & Philadelphia. NONE.

4 – We tend to fly with European airlines (British Airways, Austrian – they wear BRIGHT RED uniforms!), but all airlines are fine. Look for one that best fits your budget & schedule. If you can sneak in a long layover in a new city – go for it! It is like a mini-vacation within a vacation – imagine lunch in Paris! That said, Elizabeth’s mom swears that direct flights are without question the best option.

5 – For an overview, we suggest this site http://www.rome2rio.com

6 – Alternative destination cities to consider (1km = .6 miles)

Flying to/from Philly? Consider these airports:
– 40 mi Philadelphia, PA (PHL)
– 85 mi Atlantic City, NJ (ACY)
– 99 mi Newark, NJ (EWR)
– 106 mi Harrisburg, PA (MDT)
– 122 mi New York (JFK)
– 125 mi New York (LGA)
– 130 mi Baltimore (BWI)

Flying to/from Vienna?
– 24 km Vienna/Austria (VIE)
– 90 km Bratislava/Slovakia (BTS)
– 140 km Brno/Czech Republic (BRQ)
– 206 km Graz/Austria (GRZ)

Flying to/from Klagenfurt?
– 3 km Klagenfurt/Austria (KLU)
– 68 km Ljublijana/ Slovenia (LJU)
– 130 km Graz/Austria (GRZ)
– 200 km Trieste/Italy (TRS)
– 225 km Rijeka/Croatia (RJK)
7 – Where to stay?
We are in the process of creating lists & suggestions for places to stay in each area – so stay tuned!

8 – What to pack?
– Passport – don’t leave home without it!
– Camera – capture those great memories & share with us!
– Cash – Roman & Elizabeth find that taking money directly from a local ATM is the simplest way to access local currency
– credit cards work great in the USA, but US cards are more limited in Austria.
– Clothes
– Philly will be as hot as hades in the summer! The 4th of July is a huge red, white & blue celebration, so dress appropriately. As the time gets closer, check the weather forecasts & be prepared! If it rains, we expect a short, yet heavy summer storm, with the added benefit of cooling things off. Wear sunscreen & bring a bathing suit. Check the wedding dress code section of this website.

– Klagenfurt is generally very pleasant in early September. Cross your fingers (daum in drucken) & hope for a warm, sunny weather! It can be quite cool & rainy, so check the weather forecast as the time draws near & be prepared.

With lots of love,

Elizabeth & Roman
